Old Calabria is a project of the Naples Ninety Nine Foundation inspired by the travel stories of the many foreign and Italian writers who explored Southern Italy from the 18th century on. As their representative we have chosen Norman Douglas, the author of Old Calabria, one of the most famous and widely circulated travel journal in the world so that, by encouraging a “different” approach to travelling, constructed around the literary descriptions of the places, manage to enhance a strong local identity and an endless multiplicity of expressions.
We asked Mimmo Jodice to retrace the route the Grand Tour in Calabria and hence to make his tour because we wanted today’s travelers to be accompanied by the eye of someone that has fixed and interpreted the charm of these places just as were those o the past, but this time using a camera lens in place of a paintbrush.
